George Eastmen

Eastman George Eastman was born on July 12, 1854, in Waterville, New York US. He was the youngest child in the family, he had two older sisters Ellen Maria and Katie. George was largely self educated even though he went to a private school. In 1860 george’s family moved to Rochester, New York due to his father’s health. Soon after the move George’s Father passed a to a brain disorder. George Eastman didn’t marry but carried out a relationship with Josephine Dickman he opened up a theater in rochester which opened his eyes to the world of photography. George invented the Dry plates in 1878 and created “Kodak”. He was soon joined by Henry A. Strong (a family friend and buggy-whip manufacturer). Eastmen would work with kodak until the end.
